Like everyone else when I started to walk in the Path of Magick, I had attraction to foreign Gods just like how our Ancestors been Islamized and Christianized to embrace foreign Monotheist God. But as soon as i get deeper to embrace this Faith, the Pagan Divinities have pushed me back to my lineage by asking who is my God? Like that i have my parents whom I personally know, Do I as Filipino have our Own God?
Allah and YaHWeH are both Middle Eastern God, and prior to their arrival in our Land the natives have their own Diwata and Anito being worship. Though the belief in the Diwata is a Hindu-Buddhist Influence, can we say that the Anito are our God?
This search of having our own God can lead us into confusion and have danger of getting lost along the way. This have happened to many of us who search our liberation from religious bondage that brought to us by foreign religion. For us embracing the new found God can be liberating and give us freedom to express who we are. But do they really Free Us or just blinded us to False Hope?
When I am getting to know the Religious Diversity in the Philippines, I learned that Chinese People were known to venerate their ancestors through the way how the observe funeral services and on remembering their beloved dead. I learned also that the word Anito means Ancestral Spirit or the Spirit of our departed ancestors. Filipino Indigenous Religion practice Anituhan as a form of communicating with the Spirit of the Ancestors by inducing them selves into trance like seance.
This seance session allow the living to know the messages of their ancestors that are already in the Spirit World. Through their messages it becomes a guide for the living and as a word to hold on like a promise to be Blessed.
The Magick that our ancestors do is intercessory, that means you ask the Ancestors and they will provide it to you. You can only do this when you give offering to the ancestors as they will also give back your desire to be manifested.
Working with the Ancestors save us from getting lost and removing the confusion into our life. Since they are our Ancestors where our lineage is deeply rooted. From them we have direct connection to our own God, our creator whom give us life.
