Coronavirus and the Pandemic of 2020 is changing the way how we live our life. Our Government is discouraging us to go out of our home and through this they have canceled social activities such as going to school, churches, malls and parks; and highly encourage physical distancing whenever we go to the supermarket, pharmacy or banks. This policy becomes our New Normal as we face the threat of Coronavirus around the world. Our President in the Philippines- Rodrigo Roa Duterte even have mentioned that unless there will be vaccine available only then the old lifestyle we have on going out will be possible. But as there are no available cure or vaccine, all people will just stay at home and observe the new normal being implemented. But how about our children? How will they get education if they are not allowed to go to school? Not everyone has an access to internet for online classes so these poor children will be left out. Watch out our episode today in Peace Weaving with Apu Adman as i share my thought on what we can do to survive and win this battle against Coronavirus Disease and the New Normal.
Many of us have been corrupted that our life depends on going out of our home. But when as a child at school i remember that aside from recess our most favorite part of the class is going home and that was just on me 30 years ago. But time changes as it evolves forward that it also change humans perspective of life.
Life dwells within our body. As it is within us we are okay. Life allow us to move, to grow and expand. But as we expand we are blinded that our expansion is necessary into our life. It is just our accomplishment of what we do. And accessory to our personality, but it is not our life. The one that make us live is what medical science know as the Cardinal Signs or Vital Signs of Iife, and that is the pulse, respiration, temperature and our blood pressure. It also includes our mental orientation and consciousness.
Before i celebrated my Birthday, i said to lakay that we should find a barber to cut our hair. But he said that we will not die of our hair remain long. So he was right. It is the same thing that we will not die if we do not go out of our home. Life will still persist to exist while we are at home and actually we are safe from contamination if we just stay at home.
But the issue here is not just only us. There are many children who stopped learning from schools because of the Coronavirus and parents are afraid to send them off because of the world pandemic that is happening to us right now. And this is the problem we see right now, it is not because children will not go to school but the parents rely the education of their children to school.
Coronavirus is teaching us to realize that we as a parent becomes the first teachers to our children and not rely their learning to schools with their second parent. Sometimes because of the hectic schedule of our parents, they leave their children to school so that they could do work and other things they want to do in life.
I being born on the early ’80s have seen difference from children that was born now a days on the millenial age. And some of my friend who are already parents said that it is called generation gap. But this gap has been produced not only by society but also us. Because we willingly send our children out of our care to be cultivated in schools.
There is nothing wrong in sending our children to schools as they help us to lessen our work in bringing up of children, but the main responsibility of teaching our children should be on us as a Parent.
Whether the home quarantine be lifted or not. Whether a cure and vaccine would be created or not. I pray that our mind will also be cured from the corruption of the new normal that we are heading to. I pray that the new normal will teach us all to become more responsible and mindful to what we do as well as on what we say either through letters or voice.
