Filipino has Magick

Before the rise of Wicca in the Philippines we have our own Magick and that is Kulam. Modern Filipino feared the as they thought that they are the one who inflicts harms to people. They depict them as an Old Lady with a pointed nose that has a rug doll and needle and pin it to inflict harm to someone. But this depiction is Hollywood and fictional. So the belief on Mangkukulam now-a-days drop on the category of superstition which many of Filipino right now dumped into forgotenness.  People of today are more realistic. They believe not only when they see but to the extreme that they want to experience it.

But what is Kulam?

Well according to Wikiwand, Kulam is a form of Folk Magick which is a natural magick practiced in the Philippines which put emphasis on the innate power of the self and the secret knowledge of Magica Baja. But according to Hilot Academy of Binabayalan, Kulam is part of Filipino Traditional Healthcare delivery system which is categorised under the Rehabilitative Healthcare. In contrast to popular belief that kulam is a derivative from the word “kasuklamsuklam” or wicked, Luntiang Aghama and Hilot Academy stand firm the origin of kulam derived from the Filipino word “Alam” which means to know. Thus we often heard to the healers who heal the victim of kulam as “naturuan ng leksyon” or the victim has been taught a lesson to learn from their mistakes.

For us in Luntiang Aghama, Kulam is the magick that our ancestors have given us. It is a gift that allow us to connect with mother nature in co creating and recreating life in this world.
